Pro Review:
Dimensions: 141/112/128mm
The Wailer 112 RP2 comes in three different construction forms: the Pure3, the Tour1, and the Foundation.
The following characteristics are of the Tour1 construction:
Tour 1 construction is meant to be lightweight, emphasize on lightweight since the Wailer 112 RP2 comes in at a scant 1,550 grams! Other skis in the same genre can weigh hundreds of grams heavier.
Obviously this low weight helps with the ‘tour’ side of ski touring.
Fast ascents mean you can get in more laps, more turns.
On the inside is a low-density, lightweight Balsa wood core and an aerospace carbon laminate.
DPS claims that this material combination not only keeps the weight low, but also creates a damp and torsionally stiff ski.
My Review:
I had these mounted with 2021Dynafit ST Rotation 10 (Release 4-10), with 22.
5mm BSL adjustment.
My boot is 295mm or Mondo25.
5, so you could size up to at least 310mm or Mondo 27+ without having to remount the ski binding.
These skis have been in my quiver for yes 4 years and skied about 10 VERY LIGHT backyard outings.
Never a touch of anything but pow have these bases skied.
They are essentially newer lightly used.
The set includes skins; Black Diamond Glidelites and DPS’s proprietary Phantom Glide permanent ski wax.
List in the day: skis-$1099, bindings-$599, skins-$150, Factory Phantom treatment-$100.
List Price-$1950.
Sell Price-$1000.
That’s about $100 a day rental fee.
So get out there and use your equipment skiers.
Boot size Compatability:
My boot (center mark) used to mount to the binding’s center mark or 0 mark on the DPS was 296mm length.
Given that the rear binding can adjust 22.
5mm between the designated arrow marks leaves 11mm for a for or aft adjustment.
Therefore the ski binding should approximately accommodate a boot length between 285mm (24.
5 mondo/6.
5mens) for, or 307mm (26.
5 mondo/8.
5mens) aft center ski mark.
