Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Head Distiller to join our team.
As the Head Distiller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the distilling process, ensuring the production of high-quality spirits.
This is a key leadership role within our organization, requiring strong technical expertise and a passion for crafting exceptional products.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire distilling process, from raw materials to finished products
- Operate and maintain distillation equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet demand while maintaining product quality
- Monitor fermentation, distillation, and maturation processes to ensure consistency and adherence to standards
- Conduct sensory evaluations of spirits to assess quality and make necessary adjustments
- Lead a team of distillery staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including inventory management and quality control measures
- Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to develop new products and improve existing ones
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the distilling industry is required
- Strong knowledge of distillation processes, including fermentation, mashing, and aging
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management
- Experience in the food or craft beer industry is highly desirable
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Knowledge of CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues
- Understanding of food safety protocols and sanitation practices
- Previous experience in packaging spirits is a plus
- Brewing experience is beneficial but not required
